Hi,

I have got Njstar Communicator 2.75 running with Internet Explorer 8, under windows Vista.

Every time when I want to run Njstar with IE8, IE8 crashes. Evil or Very Mad A small error message appears and I have to shoot down Njstar if I want IE8 to run correctly. Crying or Very sad

I am a long time user of Njstar and I have never had such a problem before with windows Xp.

Please help me.

Thank you Smile

Hi,

I think the problem comes from Windows DEP. But I don't know how to do with that.

Thx

Hi,

I am experiencing a similar problem using Windows XP (English), Internet Explorer 8, and NJStar Communicator 2.75. IE8 would hang and close without warning a while after I turn on NJStar Comm. IE8 works only when NJStar Comm is off.

I did not have any problem with IE7 and NJStar Communicator 2.60. Now I am regretting the decision to upgrade to IE8 (which led me to upgrade to NJStar Communicator 2.75).

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi,

I have switch off completely the DEP function in windows Vista.
(I have forgotten the procedure, but you can find it on web with google)
Now, it is OK.

Hi tomcat,

Can you check if you have Microsoft Java VM installed?
(look for file: \windows\system32\msjvm.dll or see 5. below)

We found out that IE8 crashes only when DEP is enabled AND MSJVM is installed.

MSJVM is old and not supported. It was installed with some old Microsoft program such as Visual Studio 6.0 (of 1998).

MSJVM can be removed using following procedures:

1. Select Start > Run
2. Enter RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection java.inf,UnInstall in the Open box, and click OK

3. When asked, Click Yes to confirm that you want to remove the Microsoft VM

4. When prompted, reboot the computer

5. Remove the following items after reboot (Optional):

◦ The \%Systemroot%\Java folder
◦ The file java.INF from the \%Systemroot%\inf folder
◦ The files jview.exe and wjview.exe from the \%Systemroot%\system32 folder
◦ The registry subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Java VM
◦ The registry subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\
AdvancedOptions\JAVA_VM

Note I: With \%Systemroot%\ is meant your Windows directory.
